Before starting my speech I would like to greet you all a very happy republic day , esteemed teachers , respected guardians and other people who have come here to encourage us , loving children and honourable directors. I am feeling very much honoured that today I am in front of you , my fellow countrymen to rememorise the glory of India , our motherland , how it became free from English rule and then became a republic on this very day in 1950. What does it mean to be a republic nation, do you know? It means that now we are free to choose our representatives who will rule this country by making laws keeping in mind that each and every section of our country whether rich or poor, upper caste or lower caste, Male or female, white or black, hindu or Muslim gain equally in all aspects. We all know that our constitution has given us six fundamental rights which are Right to freedom, Right to equality, Right to freedom of religion, Cultural and educational rights, Right against exploitation and Right to constitutional remedies. What do these six rights mean to us? And the most important question is - Are we all aware of our rights? Do we use our rights whenever we are suppressed? So, I will talk first about right to freedom. It means that now we are free to do whatever we wish to do but it must not interfere with the fundamental rights of others or harras them in any way. Now people of lower castes can also go to temples, fetch water from wells and visit public places which was not allowed to them if we go hundred years back . Now nobody can force you to do those kinds of work which you don't like or wish to do even if he is paying you for it. Nobody can enslave or harras you in any way even if he is your family member. Now, the second one,Right to equality means that all are equal before law whether it's the prime minister of India or a common man. All will get equal opportunities in governmental jobs etc. There will be equal pay for equal work no matter whether it's a man or woman. The third one, Right to freedom of religion gives us the right to worship any God, to follow any religion we wish to follow. Nobody can force us to change our religion. The fourth one, Cultural and educational rights says that we can follow our culture and tradition. Also it gives us the right to get free basic education . The fifth one,Right against exploitation says that nobody can exploit us in any way. If someone does so we can take the help of law. And the last, Right to constitutional remedies say that if any of our five rights has been taken in any way we can demand for remedy by appealing in court. Beside our rights we should also know about our fundamental duties that are - give respect to our national flag and national anthem, don't destroy the public property, don't do those types of things which weaken our unity but most of the people only talk about their rights but forget about their fundamental duties. Now, after seventy years of being a republic we are supposed to think that are we really? Is everything in India really on it's path? Are we really a secular nation as written in our constitution? Are really men and women equal? Are really the people of different religions, castes living peacefully in this country? The answer is a big No. Today still the women are struggling for their rights. Hindu and muslims are fighting against each other in the name of religion. The current examples of Bengal and Kashmir are in support to my thinking. Today still there is no equal pay for equal work. Some people are enjoying special facilities and some even lack the basic needs of living. There is corruption everywhere. You have to bribe for even a small work at governmental offices. Who is responsible for this? The answer is we the people of India. We do not want to fight for our rights. We are very weak to take even a single step to purify the evil practices which are spread in our society. We are still following the evil practices which are making us poor and poorer. The English left our country but we are still practicing their language. We feel shame in speaking in our mother tongue. There are countries in the world Russia, China who still practice their own language and are developing a lot. If we really feel proud of our country and it's constitution this need to be changed and we have to bring this change. Then the dreams of our freedom fighters like Subhas Chandra Bose, mahatma Gandhi, chandrashekhar ajad, bhagat Singh, raj guru and many more will really come true.
